Up Players and Forces Interactions Newton's third law F = ma Net Force

Players exert forces on each other, on the ball, and on the ground.   Here are a few examples.

 

Throwing

The quarterback exerts a force on the ball when he throws it.

Catching

The receiver exerts a force on the ball when he catches it,

Kicking

The kicker exerts a force on the ball when he kicks it.

 
 

Tackling

The Big Orange player exerts a force on Number 17 when he tackles him.

Gaining speed

The player gaining speed exerts a force on the ground as he pushes against the ground.

Turning

The turning player exerts a force on the ground as he pushers against the ground.
